What can we help with?

So the right tech handles your vehicle.

Not every puncture can be repaired. We check the location and damage first and tell you honestly if a repair will hold.

How we approach a flat

Plug-patch, done right

The industry-standard repair combines a plug and an internal patch, applied from inside the tire after it's off the rim.

Honest assessment

We check puncture size and location. Sidewall damage or a puncture too close to the edge means replacement, not repair.

Roadside when you need it

Can't get to the bay? A mobile call-out can get a temporary fix on so you can drive to us or home.

Plug vs plug-patch

Why the type of repair matters

There are two very different things people call a tire repair, and the difference matters. A plug-only fix pushes a sticky rubber plug into the puncture from the outside, without ever taking the tire off the rim. It’s fast and it’s what most roadside kits and tow trucks use to get you moving, but it is meant to be temporary. A plug-patch repair is the industry-standard permanent fix: the wheel comes off the vehicle, the tire comes off the rim, and a combination plug-and-patch unit is installed from the inside, sealing the puncture from both directions and letting us inspect the inner liner for hidden damage at the same time. If a puncture is in the tread area and under about a quarter inch across, a plug-patch usually holds for the life of the tire. If it’s in the sidewall, too close to the edge of the tread, or the tire has been run flat for any distance, we will tell you it needs replacing instead of chasing a repair that will not hold. That honesty costs us nothing and saves you a repeat flat down the road.

Our Process

What happens when you call about a flat

1

Tell us the situation

Where you are, whether you can drive on it, and what caused it.

2

We check the damage

Puncture size, location and whether the sidewall is affected.

3

Repair or replace

Plug-patch when it will hold, an honest call to replace when it won't.

4

Back on the road

Pressure set to spec and the spare stowed away again.

Why acting fast matters

A small puncture doesn't stay small

A slow leak is easy to ignore until it isn’t. Driving even a short distance on a tire that has gone soft or flat can fold the sidewall against the rim, and that kind of flexing can turn a puncture that would have been a straightforward plug-patch into damage that means replacement instead. Watching for a slow leak early, whether that is a dashboard TPMS warning or just noticing a tire looks lower than the others, is what keeps a repairable puncture repairable. Ottawa’s freeze-thaw cycle adds another layer to this every spring, when repeated freezing and thawing breaks up pavement and opens potholes across the road network, and a hard pothole strike can pinch a sidewall or damage a wheel at the same time as puncturing the tread. Checking tire pressure regularly, especially as temperatures swing through the season, catches a slow leak while it is still an easy fix rather than after it has been driven on flat.

Flat tire repair questions

Can every flat tire be repaired?

No. Punctures in the tread area, under about a quarter inch, are usually repairable with a plug-patch. Sidewall damage, punctures near the edge of the tread, or a tire that's been driven on while flat usually need replacement instead.

What's the difference between a plug and a plug-patch?

A plug alone is inserted from outside the tire and is meant as a temporary fix. A plug-patch removes the tire from the rim and seals the puncture from inside, which is the industry standard for a permanent repair.

Do you come to me for a flat tire?

Yes, mobile and roadside service is available across the Ottawa areas we serve for situations where getting to our bay isn't practical. See our mobile tire service page for details.

How long does a puncture repair take?

A plug-patch repair typically takes well under an hour once the vehicle is in the bay.

Will you tell me if my tire actually needs replacing?

Yes. We inspect the puncture location and tire condition and give you a straight answer rather than repairing something that will not hold.
