Sensor diagnostics Replacement & relearn Written quotes

TPMS sensor service done right

Mobile Tire Ottawa replaces TPMS sensors for $80-$170 per sensor, relearn included. We test first, so you only replace the sensor that failed.

What TPMS actually involves

What TPMS actually does

A tire pressure monitoring system uses a small sensor inside each wheel to report inflation to your dashboard. When a sensor's battery dies or a sensor gets damaged during a tire change, the warning light can come on even if your tires are properly inflated.

Diagnosis before replacement

We check which sensor is triggering the warning and whether it's a battery issue, a physical fault, or just a relearn that was skipped after a recent tire swap, before recommending a new part.

Relearn included

A new sensor has to be relearned to your vehicle's computer before it actually communicates. We include the relearn procedure with every sensor replacement so the warning light clears.

Our Process

How TPMS service works

1

Diagnostic scan

We read which sensor is faulting and check battery status and signal.

2

Replace only what's needed

Only the faulty sensor is replaced, not the full set, unless more than one is failing.

3

Relearn procedure

The new sensor is registered to your vehicle so the dash reads it correctly.

4

Pressure confirmed

All four tires are checked and set before you leave.

What to expect

Our price range

We charge $80 to $170 per sensor, depending on your vehicle's sensor type. Your exact number is confirmed before we start.

No unnecessary replacements

If your warning light is a relearn issue rather than a dead sensor, we tell you before recommending a new part.

Pairs with a changeover

TPMS sensors take the most wear during seasonal tire swaps, so checking them at changeover time catches problems early.

Seasonal TPMS patterns

Why the light comes on more in fall and spring

TPMS warnings cluster around seasonal tire changeovers for a simple reason: sensors get handled during every swap, and cold weather itself drops tire pressure enough to trigger a warning even on a sensor that’s working fine. A tire loses roughly 1 psi of pressure for every 5 to 6 C drop in temperature, so a sudden Ottawa cold snap can light up the dash without anything being broken. That’s one reason a quick diagnostic before replacing a part matters. We check whether the light is a real sensor fault, a battery nearing the end of its life, or simply low pressure that a top-up will fix.

When to replace

When a sensor actually needs replacing

Most TPMS sensors run on a sealed internal battery that isn’t serviceable on its own, so once that battery is low, the whole sensor gets replaced. Typical sensor life runs several years, and it’s common for one sensor to fail before the others since they don’t all wear at the same rate. If a diagnostic scan shows a genuine sensor fault, we quote the replacement and the relearn procedure together, so the job is done in one visit and your dashboard shows accurate pressure again without a second trip.

TPMS questions

Why is my TPMS light on if my tires look fine?

The sensor reports pressure electronically, so a fine-looking tire can still trigger the light if the sensor's battery is low, the sensor was damaged during a swap, or the system just needs a relearn after service.

How much does a TPMS sensor replacement cost?

We charge $80 to $170 per sensor, depending on sensor type and vehicle make. The relearn is included.

Do I need all four sensors replaced at once?

Not usually. Sensors typically fail one at a time as their internal batteries age, so we replace only the one that's failing unless a diagnostic shows more than one is bad.

What is a TPMS relearn and why does it matter?

A relearn registers a sensor's ID to your vehicle's onboard computer. Skip it after a tire swap or sensor replacement and the dashboard can keep showing a warning even with good sensors installed.
