How Much Does a Mobile Tire Change Cost in Ottawa?
The cost of a mobile tire change with Mobile Tire Ottawa is $100 to $200 for four tires already on their own rims. That is our $40 to $80 swap plus a $60 to $120 call-out for the tech to come to you. Your vehicle, wheel size, location and the condition of your wheels decide where you land, and you get the exact price in writing before any work starts. Anything unusual is quoted separately, and nothing extra is done until you approve it. All prices are before HST, which is extra.
Every job is done at your place, including mounting and balancing bare tires. The tech brings the equipment to you.

Key takeaways
- A driveway swap is the swap price plus a call-out, and we confirm both in writing before the tech heads out.
- Every job is done at your place, including mounting and balancing bare tires.
- Emergency service is available 24/7.
- All-season tires begin losing elasticity below 7°C, so book before sustained cold weather arrives.
- Check the tread on your winter set before the swap.
What a mobile tire change includes

A tech comes to you, takes off the set you are running, puts on your other set, torques the lug nuts to your vehicle’s spec and sets the tire pressure to the number on your driver’s door jamb, not the maximum printed on the tire. You do not wait in a lobby and you do not haul four wheels in your trunk.
If your tires are not on rims yet, we mount and balance them on site too. One condition applies: the vehicle needs to be parked on a safe, level surface where we have permission to work. A private driveway is ideal. For an office, condo or commercial lot, check with property management first. Ottawa’s traffic and parking by-law does not allow parking on a public street for non-emergency repairs, so a planned seasonal swap cannot happen at the curb.
How much each type of tire change costs in Ottawa

Here are our standard quoted ranges, from the simplest job to the most involved. Each range depends on the vehicle and is confirmed in your written quote.
| Job | Price |
|---|---|
| Swap, tires already on rims | $40 to $80 per set |
| Mount and balance bare tires | $80 to $160 per set |
| Wheel balancing only | $15 to $30 per tire |
| Call-out, added to every visit | $60 to $120 |
So the mobile price is the swap plus the call-out. At the low end that is $40 + $60 = $100. At the high end it is $80 + $120 = $200. A compact car with clean wheels sits near the bottom. A large SUV with wheels rusted onto the hubs sits near the top.
Three examples of how this works out:
- Your winters are on rims in the garage. We come to your driveway and swap them. You pay the swap plus the call-out, and you never leave the house.
- You bought new tires online and they arrived bare. We mount and balance them at your place: $80 to $160 for the set, plus the call-out.
- You want the off-season set out of your garage. Add seasonal storage for $60 to $100 per set per season. Confirm how the tires will be collected and returned when you book.
If the tech finds something that changes the job, like a damaged wheel or a seized lug nut, we explain it and get your OK on a new price before doing anything extra. You never pay for work you did not approve.
When should you book a winter tire change in Ottawa?
Book when daytime temperatures start sitting around 7°C, which in Ottawa usually means October. Transport Canada says all-season and summer tires begin to lose elasticity below 7°C, which costs you traction, while winter tires are built to stay flexible in the cold. That loss starts on cold mornings, well before the first snowfall.
Booking early also gets you ahead of the rush. The week of the first snow, everyone calls at once and the slots go fast.
Do you have to put winter tires on in Ontario?
No. Ontario does not require winter tires on ordinary passenger vehicles. Every Ontario auto insurer must offer a discount if you install them, though each insurer sets its own rules on dates, proof and the amount. Call yours to see what you qualify for.
How much tread do you need for winter?

Transport Canada advises against using tires worn close to 4 mm (5/32″) of tread on snow-covered roads. That is a safety recommendation, not the law. Ontario’s legal limit for passenger tires is lower: a tire must be replaced when less than 1.5 mm of tread is left or the tread-wear indicators touch the road.
The quick check: put a tread gauge or a ruler in the main grooves at several points across each tire, because wear is often uneven. If your winters are close to 4 mm, plan for new tires before the season, not in the middle of it. Ask us to check the tread during the swap so you can plan a replacement before winter.
Extra costs to know about before your changeover
Most changeovers are just the swap. These are the add-ons we see, quoted on the same visit:
- TPMS warning after a swap: cold weather or wrong pressure can turn the light on even when every sensor works. Check your pressures against the door-jamb label first. If the light stays on, the tech diagnoses it on site: low pressure, a relearn, or a failed sensor. A confirmed faulty sensor costs $80 to $170 to replace, relearn included. See our TPMS sensor service.
- Recycling your old tires: Mobile Tire Ottawa charges a recycling and handling fee of $2 to $5 per passenger tire. It is our own charge, not a government tax or a fee Ontario requires.
- Seasonal storage: $60 to $100 per set per season. Details are on our tire storage page.
- Wheel balancing: $15 to $30 per tire, when a vibration or the inspection shows a wheel needs it.
Every price we charge is on our tire service pricing page.
